YU Expands Regional Programming with Luncheon in Washington, D.C.

As the Office of Alumni Affairs continues to expand its regional programming, D.C.-based alumni gathered at Jones Day to discuss the YU network in their region.  On February 4th, a luncheon hosted by Yossi Goldman (‘88YC) of Jones Day featured guest speaker Nathan Diament (‘88YC), Director of the Institute for Public Affairs at the OU and a member of the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Five Towns Gets Another Taste of YU
Purim excitement started a week early in the Five Towns! On Sunday, February 21, nearly 200 men and women gathered at the Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst as part of Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future Kollel/Midreshet Yom Rishon Program. At the request of numerous community members and through the programming efforts of the YU Regional Council-Five Towns, the popular Yom Rishon Program was brought to the Five Towns with outstanding speakers who delved into Purim themes and practical observances of the holiday.


SOY Seforim Alumni Family Day Draws Crowd

On January 31st, the Office of Alumni Affairs held a Family Day in conjunction with the SOY Seforim Sale.  The SOY Seforim Sale, run by YU students, is the biggest Jewish book sale in North America and draws large crowds of alumni every year.  At the Family Day, alumni interested in the sale had the opportunity to bring their kids along for a day of fun activities on the Wilf Campus.

New Rabbi Morris Besdin Scholarship Fund Established
JSS alumni and anyone whose life was touched by Rabbi Morris Besdin are invited to join together in a special opportunity to memorialize Rabbi Besdin and honor his achievements and contributions to Yeshiva University. Rabbi Besdin's efforts and caring made it possible for so many to attend YU and JSS, and inspired them to become professional and lay leaders in the Jewish community.


Reunions 2010 Kick Off!

The Office of Alumni Affairs is currently gearing up for the 2010 reunions for Yeshiva College, Stern College for Women and Sy Syms School of Business set to take place this May.  With the planning in full swing, reunion committee members from the classes of 1960, 1970, 1985 and 2000 recently held their first meeting.  This year marks the first time that alumni will have the opportunity to celebrate their 10th year reunion.


Alumni Learn about Purim at Inaugural Rosh Chodesh Breakfast Event

On Wednesday, February 17th, alumni attended the inaugural event of the Rosh Chodesh Breakfast Series and had the opportunity to hear from SCW Professor of Judaic Studies, Rabbi Lawrence Hajioff.  With the event coinciding with the start of Rosh Chodesh Adar, Rabbi Hajioff focused his lecture on the holiday of Purim.  With his unique humor and wonderful story-telling, Rabbi Hajioff shared insights on the hidden meanings of Purim.

YCDS Presents: Laughter on the 23rd Floor

Date: March 20, 2010 to March 25, 2010
The Yeshiva College Dramatics Society presents Neil Simon's comedy, Laughter on the 23rd Floor. The show premiers on Saturday evening, March 20th at 9:00pm and will run thorugh Thursday, March 25th. Sunday's performance is a 3:00pm matinee and the remaining shows are at 9:00pm. Tickets are available for alumni for $5, and if you are a YCDS Alumnus, you receive two complimentary tickets.
